Mama Witch

A witch lives here—keeper of the woodland, collector of curious little things.

Take only what you need, leave a little kindness behind, and you'll always be welcome.

The Archetypal Core

This page is not about the archetypal self, but the archetypal pattern within the Craft itself.

What makes an Archetype?

An archetype is the raw, instinctual meaning behind a symbol or tool. This is something that repeats not because it was taught, but because it was felt. These are things that appear in the Craft again and again, across lands and cultures that never spoke the same language. The people were different, but the need was the same — to protect, to purify, to guide, to transform. So the same tools kept appearing.
The archetypal core is the ancient memory within these symbols. These patterns don’t repeat just because they were passed down — they repeat because they were remembered. Not in the mind. Not in the whispers of folk. Not even in the stories passed down. But in the very vibration that hums beneath our existence.
You’ll find these echoes are found in the simplest of things: salt to purify, fire to transform, red thread to protect, knots to bind, smoke to carry words between worlds. These are the symbols that rise up from the earth itself, and from our shared experience as living beings. They belong to no one and everyone.

If ever it feels like the craft is not how you imagined, return to the roots.
